…I was totally shocked.
Not a bad kind of shock though – but I was genuinely very surprised.
Why?
Well, my little angel, you came despite precautions mommy and daddy took, and health issues mommy had (I’ll leave the ‘precautions’ conversation to your daddy when you’re older 😋)
But that doesn’t mean we didn’t want you, baby boy. ❤️ We just planned for you at a later time in our lives. But hey, you decided to do things your way and according to your own time. You probably got that trait from me anyway. 🤷🏻♀️
You’re already such a blessing and you’ve made so many people burst with joy even before you’re born.
How I knew you were here
You can thank your Godma Yuping for that. (It’s something she’s really proud of…)
One day in early November 2021, your Godma Yuping and I met for our usual facial date and I was complaining about tummy discomfort. Throughout the entire day, she kept subtly hinting that I could be pregnant, no matter how many times I told her it’s just my usual stomach issues.
Finally, toward the end of the day, I got fed up and went, “Fine, you stupid girl. 😒 I’ll get the home test kit just to prove you wrong!”
Well… You know how that ended. 😬😬
That night, I got home and promptly did the test.
…which (clearly) came out positive.
And I just sat in the washroom staring at the pee stick for a good 30 minutes, while your daddy was outside waiting patiently for my answer.
Albeit I think he kind of knew when I didn’t burst out proclaiming I was right.
Daddy: Errr… soooo, how is it, sweetie?
Mommy: Errr… this cannot be. The doctors said it’s near impossible for me right now.
Daddy: Sooooo, it’s positive…?? (I’d like to call out he genuinely sounded happy here already)
Maybe he was incredibly proud of his little soldiers. 😂 (You can ask your daddy who his ‘little soldiers’ are.)
But I was still incredibly skeptical and cautious about the result, because I know of many couples who told me they had false positives and were so disappointed when they got to the clinic.
So, your mommy decided to wait till the morning to test again; believing that morning pee is more accurate.
Aaaand…
Your mommy spent most of her morning staring at those 2 sticks and reading the instruction manual very closely. I was even wondering if the faint line at the back meant it was a questionable positive… but…
So, after a pricey blood test at a nearby clinic (and asking the doctor to expedite it), we knew within the next day that you’re really here! 🥰🥰
Why it was so hard to believe
Y’see, mommy wasn’t blessed with the healthiest of bodies. 😔 And one of my conditions requires me to take medication that actually prevents pregnancy.
To add onto that, because of other recent health issues, more than one doctor told me it’s near impossible for me to start a family anytime soon.
In fact, I was told I’d need at least a year of treatment to ‘correct’ myself before I can even start trying.
However, despite everything, you still came to me, baby boy. ❤️❤️
You have no idea how much I love you already and I haven’t even met you yet. (I’m actually tearing up writing this right now :’)) I’m hardly a perfect person, but I promise I’ll always try to be a better one for you.
Your daddy has been incredible this whole time too. 🤩 You’re such a lucky boy because he’s already being such a great dad. And I’m a very lucky woman too. He hasn’t missed a single doctor’s appointment, he’s singlehandedly taking care of a mountain of things to get ready for you because mommy is feeling so weak, he beamed so proudly at the ultrasound screen when we were counting your fingers & toes, he’s already thinking of all the things he wants to do with you and so, so, soooo much more.
And I cannot wait for you to meet your Aunt Lily too~ ❤️ She and I have been through so much together and she’s family. She’s already excited about all the pampering things she will get to do with you (I just hope you won’t get too spoiled).
Your own GuGu (daddy’s sister) has been taking great care of us as our gynae too! And your great grandparents, grandparents and many other loved ones are so excited and waiting with baited breath as well. 💛

Mommy’s pregnancy so far hasn’t been super easy… I literally haven’t slept or eaten well all these months. 😖 But I wouldn’t trade this for anything else in the world. As long as you’re safe and healthy, I’ll do what it takes. 💪🏻
In the meantime, please continue growing well~ Please try to stop squeezing my colon and kicking my bladder so much. And please, please try to let me sleep at night… I can literally feel you having your own mini swimming Olympics every night till about 4am.
